Twilight’s Eve
So I hadn’t planned on sharing any of this stuff on here. However, I figured what the hell, it’s almost Christmas and it’s been collecting digital dust for the past 5+ years, might as well drag it out now.
This is a poem I wrote years ago, I don’t really write this type of stuff anymore, but I hope you all enjoy it.
On a twilight’s eve, there was a little boy,
He had nothing, but one simple toy,
It was his life, his love, his imaginary friend,
It was with him when all happiness seemed to end,This boy had no family, no friends, no home,
He was a shadow in the world which passes unknown,
While looking for food scraps his friend he found,
A tempered child who wanted more had thrown it to the ground,The boy in tattered clothes had watched this well dressed kid,
Pull toy after toy, from inside the bag hid,
The poor boy eyed the worn toy as it was left behind,
Ran across the street, he would care for it he made his mind,So then on, together, his friend and him played,
And at night watched the stars as they laid,
One day as he played with his friend,
He looked and saw a little girl crying at the roads end,So he ran to her and asked her to play,
But “I’m missing my family” is all she would say,
He stood and watched her crying, then said,
“This is my family, but you may have it instead”As he spoke he handed her his only toy,
And watched her eyes light up happiness and joy,
She ran off hugging her new toy tight,
He smiled, and cried, and laid alone that night,Awaking the next morning he played alone,
Wondering what it is like to have a family and home,
Then he saw that girl with others, who was crying that day past,
As they came, he knew he found a family at last.
