Christmas Sucks
I really can’t stand Christmas, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. The only time it really did was when I was a kid, I understood the receiving part perfectly well.
First, I don’t get why Christians hate it when people call it x-mas, I understand the whole concept of they don’t like that ‘Christ’ in Christmas was taken out, but really… how much ‘Christ’ is there in Christmas in the first place?
Secondly, why should I go out and buy someone else a gift, get all sorts of frustrated wondering whether or not they will actually like it, when they could buy themselves what they want and I could buy myself what I want and we each can unwrap our gifts from ourselves. I can’t get beyond the ‘exchanging’ of gifts, it feels like I’m playing the lotto, first to decide if I even bought anything good, and second to find out if they bought anything good.
People spend all sorts of money thinking that this is what you do on Christmas, I spent over $200 and I’m pretty sure that is chub change for some people. I thought about buying everyone, including myself remote control cars, then we could play destruction derby after Christmas, that would have cost me, for all the gifts, a whopping $120, and I think it would have been far more fun then all this other stuff.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love to give gifts, and I’ve given plenty. I just hate the fact that it isn’t really a thing from the heart, it’s more like something we expect. ‘Well I bought you a CHRISTMAS PRESENT! Where is MINE!?’ type thing.
Christmas has a lot of potential to be awesome, but it’s not.

This is a pretty late reply, but have you considered the possibility of celebrating Festivus?
